About Lulu Hampson

The Early Days

I absolutely loved Art at school above anything else. After school I went to The London College of Fashion and then worked for a property development company which gave me a natural progression into Interior Design. Whilst starting up my own business I also worked part time for the production side of Osborne & Little.  Keep my business going alongside working at O&L gave me whilst a valuable insight into the production side of the industry. In those days their Design Studio was based in their offices in Balham together with the production of their wallpapers and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the development of the designs from initial sketches to production. I think it is important to understand how products are designed and created, whether its fabric, furniture or flowers, if you are going to be able to provide a quality service for clients.

Interior DesiGN, Events & Floristry

We moved to Sussex and started the renovation of an old Coach House which, not only had to be brought into the 20th century, but also space for our family of four daughters as well as one Grandpa,  Once the inital interior works were completed I turned my attention to the outside space and, having completed a course at The Garden Design School, set about turning the space into a series of outdoor 'rooms'.  It seemed a natural progression to use my designs skills outside as well as in.

Later on, through my involvedment with our daughters' school, I was asked to design the interior of marquees for a number of charitable events which utilised my styling skills and gave me an opportunity to be more 'theatrical' in order to turn a big white space into something magical and entertaining.  The largest event was in a fundraising ball for 650 with an Alice in Wonderland theme. Combing sourcing props, colourschemes and floral displays is something I relish and I definitely inherited my creative skills together with a passion for design and floristry from my mother who was an accomplished florist with a brilliant eye for detail and colour.

I enjoy getting to know clients and help them achieve the changes/styling they want for their home or event to create something really special and memorable. Whether that is for a particular occasion like a Wedding or updating a home where the children have grown up and moved on to inject freshness and a more contemporary style, all exciting, challenging and, most importantly, never boring!
