Late Summer in West Sussex
I can't believe I am finally getting around to writing my first Blog! I've had ideas in my head about what I'd like to write, wondering if anyone would find my eclectic work and lifestyle at all interesting. This summer I've had so many different projects, from helping a wonderful (by that I mean decisive!) client furnish her Fulham flat, overseeing a couple of refurshment projects, wedding planning and just last week, creating tribute flowers for a much loved lady.
No day is the same and that variety is what I crave. Whether its creating mood boards for interior projects, making personalised wedding gifts or a 4am drive to New Covent Garden Market, stopping myself from buying too much. At this time of year our garden has so many great cutting flowers I can add to installations or just use in the house. Flowers influence the colour palettes in many of my schemes so that I can bring the exteriors in, whether you overlooking a window box or 20 acres, its a mood changer and creates happy spaces.
A new challenge for me is the pond refurbishment at the front of our house, definitely taking me out of my comfort zone and I design the structural and planting elements to hopefully give us, not only a beautiful pond (rather than the green sludgy hole it once was) but also a wildlife haven to keep it vibrant and the water moving. The movement element is essential as the pond is fed from the run off water from the adjoining fields which are normally home to a milking herd, making the water high in nitrogen - a challenge indeed!
